February Favorites

This is it. I am the worst amateur beauty blogger in history. 12 days into the month and I haven’t gotten my February Favorites up. Malu-maluin banget ya…

Without anymore rambling, here goes –

When I was told about this particular skincare line, I wouldn’t believe it. Come on, retinol for about $15 a bottle? Must be a load of crap. But then I heard Wayne Goss talk about it… only then did I start to believe it is legit. Of course, as expected, it isn’t available in Indonesia.

It is based in the UK and coincidentally, my best friend in the UK was coming back so I had her carry some back for me. I limited myself to two-three bottles just because I didn’t want to spend money on it. Naomi ended up not taking my money and giving them to me as my birthday gift (Thanks girl!), but this review isn’t going to be biased though I didn’t pay for it, trust me.

I particularly loved the Hyaluronic Acid. It was only 5.90 pounds. Shocking. But does it work? I can’t really tell although it seems like my skin really loves it. My skin tends to get really dehydrated because I am always in an air-conditioned room, so this really helps plump up my skin.

According to its website, “Hyaluronic Acid, HA, can attract up to 1,000 times its weight in water. The molecular size of HA determines its depth of delivery in the skin. This formulation combines low, medium and high-molecular weight HA, as well as a next-generation HA crosspolymer at a combined concentration of 2% for multi-depth hydration in an oil-free formula.”

Oil Free, Hydration? Check. Check. A definite yes from me.

Another serum I’ve really been loving. So affordable and it really does work. I find my skin to be more glowy and healthy looking as compared to before. It has an oil-like consistency but does not feel heavy. In my opinion, the Hyaluronic Acid serum from The Ordinary feels heavier. I would recommend this to people who wants to even out their skintone and a youthful glow. I received the sample size but will probably be purchasing the full size.

  • Jamusara Green Tea Body Lotion

I often have a hard time finding body lotions. There are a few things that I need my body lotions to be – 1. Not sticky after application, 2. Does not have a high percentage of perfume/fragrance/alcohol as my skin will turn red and itchy, 3. Affordable, 4. fragrance not too overpowering, 5. Light yet moisturzing (cause duh?). Since I am so picky about my lotions, I am always on the hunt for a better body lotion. I am so happy to find this on my last trip to Ubud. It is locally made, smells super light with green tea and hints of jasmine. Perfect for an after-shower lather.

  • Too Faced’s Peach Palette

Too Faced does palettes really well and everyone knows that. Another addition to their line of eyeshadow palette is the Peach palette. I waited too long the last time before I purchased the Chocolate palette, but not this time. Immediately when I saw @puchhh using it in her instastory, I had to get it. It looks so nice on our Asian skintone as it is not too cool/warm toned but with a yellow undertone. I purchased this from an instagram online shop called @ciaobeaute. Funny story – I initially thought they were selling fake palettes as the price was cheaper than the ones sold on Sephora US. The owner explained that she handcarries them from Malaysia, and because of the current exchange rate, a lot of the make up products sold in Sephora Malaysia is waaaay cheaper than Singapore and even the US! It comes off as a surprise for me as I’ve always thought that Sephora US would have the cheapest price, but I guess not.

Everyone’s been asking me to review this palette but I had to be sure I liked it before reviewing it. At $68 (before taxes), the price is pretty steep for a highlight and bronzer palette but I believe it is damn worth it. I don’t know about you, but I’ve had enough of the in-your-face highlighter trend, that wet Champagne Pop look. Nope. I hate it. I won’t ever purchase anymore Becca highlighters because I figured that look looks so bad midday when my T-zone turns oily.

The Filmstar palette highlight gives just a subtle glow. Compared to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder, this one has more shimmer but very little and the smooth type of shimmer, not specks of glitter. It is more shimmery than the Hourglass highlighters. It also is a bit yellow-toned so that’s why it is super flattering on Asian skin.

The bronzer, however, is nothing special. I realize I reach out more to the highlighter. If you check out my Instagram, I have this highlighter 90% of the time in my recent pictures.

This is the latest collaboration between a local skincare line and a beauty influencer. I have always heard of LippieLust as she does the most amazing lip swatches and it’s only natural that she created this kit. I honestly really love it and I think it is so so so affordable as you get three products. All of them are steps to a moisturized lip, which tons of people have problems with. Ever wondered why your liquid lipsticks just look so ugly on your dry chapped lips? This is the exact solution and you’ll be thanking Lippie Lust. It does work, trust me.

The shipping and processing of order was super efficient and quick. I am totally satisfied with how engaged the customer service was after I uploaded a pic on my Instagram. Give them a follow. 🙂
